PEM Motion is consolidating its existing areas of expertise into three independent companies: PEM Motion, PEM Volterra and PEM Share. PEM Motion has been merged with MOiON GmbH and positions itself as an innovation platform along the electric powertrain, PEM Volterra focuses on battery testing, compliance and market access, and PEM Share continues the international training, media and networking activities around Battery-News.com. The new structure creates clear responsibilities while combining specialized expertise with the synergies of a shared ecosystem.

The newly established WLF Energy Group is acquiring PEM Motion’s Battery Management Systems (BMS) business unit and Cellovate GmbH, strengthening its position as a vertically integrated platform across the entire energy storage value chain. For PEM Motion, the transaction enables a sharper strategic focus on its core areas of Battery Testing & Compliance, Battery Analysis, Engineering Services, and Training & Operations Support. Both companies view this step as an important contribution to accelerating the development of high-performance and sustainable battery systems in Europe.

PEM Motion has joined the FastBat battery innovation cluster alongside 13 partners from research and industry to accelerate the development of safer, more efficient, and sustainable battery technologies. Supported by €50 million in public funding, the initiative aims to strengthen innovation and drive structural transformation in Germany’s Rheinisches Revier region. The project focuses on faster battery development processes, advanced testing and validation methods, smart Battery Management Systems (BMS), and knowledge transfer between research, industry, and start-ups to foster long-term economic growth and industrial competitiveness.

The new state-of-the-art laboratory for battery cell analysis enables PEM Motion to perform more efficient and comprehensive cell characterization.

PEM Motion and BENNING CMS Technology have jointly developed a Matlab-based software model that enables seamless integration of an algorithm into industrial BMS solutions without the need for additional hardware, lengthy development cycles, or modifications to safety-critical system components.

Aachen-based PEM Motion GmbH has entered into a strategic partnership with the company Henkel.
